Operation Homefront Expands Efforts to Aid Military Families with Colorado Chapter
Colorado Springs, Colo. – Operation Homefront, the national non-profit which provides emergency financial and other services to military families and wounded warriors, today welcomes Operation Homefront of Colorado as an official chapter of the organization. Local volunteers have been organizing and providing services to military families in the state since November, and the group was officially chartered as an Operation Homefront chapter on May 13.
“The needs of military families around the country continue to grow, and the addition of the Colorado chapter will help us to serve more communities,” said Jim Knotts, President and CEO of Operation Homefront. “We know there are military families in need of assistance, and with the help of the Colorado chapter we can tell their local families that they do not need to face these problems alone.
“I am honored to serve my community by helping military families who find themselves in dire situations,” said Carol Ann Mountjoy, Operation Homefront Colorado Chapter President. “Being an official chapter of Operation Homefront will enable us to offer more services and programs, and make us more effective in working with these families.”
The new chapter will primarily serve major military communities including Fort Carson, Peterson AFB, Schriever AFB, Buckley AFB, Cheyenne Mountain AFB, and the Air Force Academy. As an organization relying on the assistance of sponsors and donations, local support has been provided by Colorado Smokehouse, Dollar Tree, and the Integer Group. While the military population is condensed primarily in the Colorado Springs area, the organization will need support from the entire state to help as many of these families as possible.
The Operation Homefront of Colorado board of directors include Chairman Kevin Sullivan from Leading Points Corporation, Vice Chairman Chris Camacho from GoFit.net, Secretary and Army spouse Cindy McLaughlin, Treasurer Tammy Luksich from PARS, and board member Steve Castle from Lockheed Martin.
